“Open Windows”

This design was inspired by Stained glass windows and their fascinating details and different shapes. While I was taking this screenprinting class, I decided to focus every project we did on the theme of Stained glass windows. For every project, I used windows as motifs but changed the style and orientation of them while playing with different colors as well.

This screenprinting process was an adventure full of sick nights and frustrations with registration marks, but we pulled it together in the end and, I can say, made something that I’m proud of.

Digital Design and Silkscreen Printing

Raw Silk, Silk Printing Ink

process…

We were instructed to only use one color which was a challenge because I had NO idea what color I would choose! Normally, I’m drawn to warm colors and was excited to use something bright but in the end, decided to go with a Forest Green. I turned out liking it in the end! (so did my peers ;D)

We started out the process with designing our repeat patterns on Adobe Photoshop. Then, we made color test samples to officially choose our colors ( I made 11 color samples). Finally, we Silkscreen printed on the fabric of our choice with our chosen color.
